ABC has decided not to renew the supernatural comedy series “Not Dead Yet” for a third season, concluding the show’s run after two seasons on the network.
The series, which premiered on February 8, 2023, ended its latest run on February 7, 2024, with lower ratings than its debut season.
Based on the novel “Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up” by Alexandra Potter, “Not Dead Yet” starred Gina Rodriguez as obituary writer Nell Serrano, who discovers her ability to see ghosts upon returning to her old job at SoCal Independent.
The show garnered a dedicated fan base, with viewers appreciating its fresh and charming tone. However, it ultimately could not secure a wider audience, with an average of 2.7 million total viewers and a 0.3 demo rating for its second season, a decrease from its first.
Created by David Windsor and Casey Johnson, who also served as executive producers, “Not Dead Yet” was a product of a collaboration between Gina Rodriguez, Dean Holland, and Wonderland Sound and Vision’s McG, Mary Viola, and Corey Marsh.
With the cancellation of “Not Dead Yet,” ABC’s 2024-25 schedule retains only two comedies: the renewed “Abbott Elementary,” which will return for a fourth season, and “The Conners,” which is set to conclude after a shortened seventh season.
