ABC Studios to Release a Hulu Special on Country Star Lainey Wilson

ABC News Studios has announced a new documentary, “Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country,” focusing on the rise of country music star Lainey Wilson. The program will begin streaming on Hulu from May 29.

The documentary is one of several projects currently in development by the ABC News Studios production unit led by Robin Roberts. In a statement, Roberts expressed her eagerness to share the stories of strong and authentic women, stating, “I look forward to telling stories about talented women who are strong and authentic. Lainey is definitely one of those women, and I can’t wait to share her uplifting story with audiences around the world.”

Lainey Wilson has experienced a rapid ascent in the country music industry. In 2023, she achieved significant success, winning five CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, four ACM Awards, two CMT Music Awards, and three People’s Choice Country Awards. She also recently claimed her first Grammy Award for Best Country Album. Wilson made her acting debut in season five of the Paramount series “Yellowstone.”

The upcoming Hulu documentary will offer an intimate look into Wilson’s life, including behind-the-scenes glimpses from her headline shows and candid interviews with Wilson and her loved ones. Wilson expressed her honor and excitement about the project, thanking Robin Roberts and ABC News Studios for their involvement.

Mike Kelley, head of ABC News Studios, praised Roberts’ passion for storytelling, stating, “This project gets to the heart of the triumphs and challenges in Lainey’s journey to the top of country music. We can’t wait to share it with the Hulu audience.”

The documentary will be executive-produced by Jonathan Blakely, with Katie Conway as senior producer.
