20/20 returns Friday night with a two-hour deep dive into the 2010 disappearance of Bonnie Woodward, a 47-year-old Illinois mother whose vanishing kicked off a twisted case involving her runaway stepdaughter—and an ending no one saw coming.

Airing June 6 at 9:00-11:00 p.m. EDT on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu, the episode unpacks the strange sequence of events that followed Woodward’s final shift at a local nursing home. She never returned home, and her red truck was later found abandoned. Witnesses told police she had climbed into a silver Chevrolet with an unknown man.

At first, attention turned to her 18-year-old stepdaughter, Heather, who had recently fled the family home. But as the investigation evolved, Heather was ruled out, leaving authorities without a clear suspect—and a family grasping for answers.

Nightline co-anchor JuJu Chang reports on the case, which features exclusive interviews with those closest to the story. Among the voices: Woodward’s boyfriend and niece, as well as detectives, attorneys, reporters, and jurors who tracked the case across the years.
