Acorn TV’s Detective Drama “Dalgliesh” Returns for Season 2 on April 24th
Dalgliesh, the British detective drama, will be exclusively returning to Acorn TV on April 24th for audiences in North America, New Zealand, and Australia.
The show’s second season, which consists of six episodes, is based on three more novels from P.D. James’ bestselling murder mystery series. Bertie Carvel will reprise his role as investigator Adam Dalgliesh, a brilliant and enigmatic detective. Season 2 is split into three parts, each containing two episodes. Part 1, titled “Death of an Expert Witness,” premieres on April 24th, Part 2, titled “A Certain Justice,” airs on May 1st, while Part 3, titled “The Murder Room,” will premiere on May 8th.
This season will once again delve into England’s in the 1970s, following DCI Adam Dalgliesh as he solves a series of unusual murders. The cases range from a senior forensic biologist found dead in his lab to an illustrious but controversial defence barrister found deceased in her chambers, as well as a young doctor discovered burning in the grounds of his family museum.
Carlyss Peer, who played DS Kate Miskin, will reprise her role this season, while Alistair Brammer, known for his work in “Medieval” and “Les Misérables,” will join as DS Daniel Tarrant. This season guest stars include Yaseen Aroussi, Margaret Clunie, Michael Culkin, Sorcha Cusack, Deborah Findlay, Richard Harrington, Anastasia Hille, Sam Hoare, Sylvestra Le Touzel, Michael Maloney, Dominic Rowan, Sara Stewart, and Daisy Waterstone.
Acclaimed screenwriter and playwright Helen Edmundson (Mary Magdalene, An Inspector Calls) serves as lead-writer and is joined by Stewart Harcourt (Agatha Raisin, Maigret) for episodes 3 and 4. Episodes 1 and 2 are directed by Geoffrey Sax (Victoria, Endeavour), episodes 3 and 4 are directed by Andrew Tohill (The Dig, Insulin) and Ryan Tohill (The Dig, Insulin), and episodes 5 and 6 are directed by Jon Wright (Unwelcome, Brassic). The series is executive produced by Elaine Pyke, Willow Grylls, Emily Russell, and Edmundson for New Pictures and Catherine Mackin for Acorn Media Enterprises. Dalgliesh is a New Pictures Production for Acorn TV and Channel 5 in association with All3media International with funding from Northern Ireland Screen.
