BritBox and the BBC have revealed first-look images of Towards Zero, a new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic mystery novel. The series, featuring a star-studded cast including Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Anjelica Huston, and Matthew Rhys, is directed by Olivier Award-winner Sam Yates and adapted for screen by BAFTA-nominated Rachel Bennette.
It consists of three one-hour episodes and is set in England in 1936, following a scandalous celebrity divorce that leads to tensions during a summer gathering at the coastal estate of Gull’s Point.
In Towards Zero, Nevile Strange, portrayed by Jackson-Cohen, invites his ex-wife Audrey (Ella Lily Hyland) to join him and his new wife Kay (Mimi Keene) at his childhood home.
As the reunion unfolds, the presence of various guests—including a lady’s companion, a mysterious valet, and an inquisitive orphan—creates an atmosphere ripe for murder. Inspector Leach, played by Rhys, must dig through the relationships and hidden motives to solve the impending crime.
Filming took place in and around Bristol, as well as on the Devon coast. The series is set to air on BritBox in the U.S. and Canada, while UK audiences can catch it on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. Towards Zero follows the success of last year’s adaptation, Murder is Easy, which garnered significant viewership across all channels and platforms.
Produced by Agatha Christie Limited and Mammoth Screen, Towards Zero features executive producers James Prichard, Sheena Bucktowonsing, Damien Timmer, Danielle Scott-Haughton, Jon Farrar, Stephen Nye, and Robert Schildhouse. Rebecca Durbin serves as the producer, with global distribution handled by FIFTH SEASON.
