Channel 4 Give "Aldi’s Next Big Thing" Second Series

Aldi’s Next Big Thing returns on Tuesday 30 April on Channel 4 with a culinary clash of cultures as six nations compete to get their unique food products onto the shelves of one of Britain’s biggest supermarkets.

In this episode, a diverse range of international cuisines take centre stage, showcasing the creativity and innovation of small-time food and drink makers. The competition intensifies as each supplier battles it out for the chance to become Aldi’s next big world food product.

Among the contenders is a Filipino ketchup with a twist—crafted from bananas. This unusual condiment promises to bring a tropical twist to mealtimes. Representing Nigeria, we find a delicious treat in the form of puff puffs, which are described as “like donuts, but better”. Adding a touch of spice is a soul food “love dust”, guaranteed to fire up any dish.

Türkiye joins the culinary contest with a DIY kebab marinade, offering a convenient way to enjoy the classic Turkish dish at home. Meanwhile, Jamaica showcases a jackfruit mutton ready meal, combining the fruit’s versatility with the flavours of mutton.

Aldi’s Next Big Thing provides a valuable platform for small-scale suppliers, giving them the opportunity to pitch their innovative products to Aldi UK’s managing director of buying, Julie Ashfield. The show’s first series, which aired in October 2022, saw 36 suppliers showcase their creations, with each episode featuring a winner whose product earned a coveted spot as a Specialbuy in Aldi stores nationwide.
