Veteran actress Alison Sweeney is set to reprise her iconic role as Sami Brady in the long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives”.
“I was thrilled to be invited back,” Sweeney told TV Insider, who first broke the news. “I love playing Sami, and I’m always happy to return. We needed to sort out scheduling, but if possible, I’m delighted to make it work.”
The actress first joined the show in 1993 and enjoyed a successful 21-year run before leaving in 2014 to pursue other projects. During her time on the show, she received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and won the Special Fan Emmy Award for America’s Favorite Villain in 2002.
Since her departure, Sweeney has made several returns to the show, appearing in various storylines. Her most recent stint on the show was in 2017, and she has maintained a positive relationship with the production, happily returning when her schedule allows.
Sweeney’s episodes are set to air in 2025. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on Peacock.
