The HISTORY Channel’s survivalist gauntlet, “Alone,” returns for its twelfth season, and this time, the stakes are higher – and wilder – than ever. Forget desolate islands or frozen tundra; Season 12 drops ten new survivalists into the heart of South Africa’s Great Karoo Desert, a land of stark beauty and extreme peril. This isn’t just about enduring the elements; it’s about coexisting with some of the planet’s most dangerous creatures.
Think scorpions and venomous snakes are bad? How about baboons with a penchant for thievery, or the sheer brute force of a Cape buffalo? The Great Karoo is teeming with wildlife, and not all of it is friendly. These survivalists will need more than just their ten allowed tools; they’ll need sharp instincts, a whole lot of grit, and maybe a touch of luck.
As always, the goal remains the same: last the longest in total isolation and claim the $500,000 prize. But in this unforgiving environment, even the most seasoned survivalists will be pushed to their limits.
Before the main event, The HISTORY Channel offers two specials to whet your appetite. “Before the Drop” (Thursday, June 12th at 8:00 PM ET/PT) introduces this season’s crop of survivalists, looking at their backgrounds and motivations. The following week, “Most Dangerous Moments” (Thursday, June 19th at 8:00 PM ET/PT) revisits some of the most harrowing encounters from the past eleven seasons of “Alone.” And if that’s not enough survival for you, a new season of “Alone: Australia” kicks off on Thursday, June 12th at 10:30 PM ET/PT, moving to its regular 10:00 PM ET/PT slot on Thursday, June 26th.
“Alone” Season 12 premieres Thursday, June 12 at 9:00 PM ET/PT on The HISTORY Channel.
