In the latest episode of Ambulance: Code Red on 5STAR, the West Midlands emergency response teams face life-and-death situations that require their immediate attention.
The episode begins with a call to Staffordshire, where 64-year-old David has collapsed at work with a suspected cardiac arrest. Critical Care Paramedics Sarah Folley and Fay Pollock rush to the scene, joining an ambulance crew that has successfully restarted David’s heart. However, their work is not done, as one in three patients who come out of cardiac arrest often experience another episode.
Meanwhile, in Worcestershire, Critical Care Paramedics Kerry Hemus and Laura Taylor respond to a serious road traffic collision. They find 52-year-old Michelle trapped in her car after crashing into a fallen tree, complaining of neck pain, which could indicate a fracture and the risk of paralysis. The paramedics must act quickly and thoughtfully to extricate Michelle and provide urgent medical care.
At the same time, in Gloucestershire, 21-year-old international show jumper Faye requires assistance after being kicked off her horse during a jump. Critical Care Paramedics Will Meadows and Grant Salsby attend to Faye, who is experiencing chest and shoulder pain, and they must also assess her for potential head injuries due to the fall.
