AMC Networks Launches Ad-Supported Version of AMC+ Streaming Service

AMC Networks is introducing an ad-supported version of its streaming service, AMC+, to provide consumers with a more affordable option. Priced at $4.99 per month, the ad-supported version will have a light ad load of less than five minutes per hour and will offer the same series and films as the ad-free version. The ad-free plans will still be available at the current price of $8.99 per month, with the option for annual subscriptions at a discounted rate.
The launch of the ad-supported AMC+ aims to bring ads to the only remaining non-ad-supported aspect of the distribution ecosystem. By including ads, AMC Networks hopes to leverage the popularity of its high-quality shows to connect with viewers across different platforms and devices. This move also opens up new opportunities for marketers, such as interactive and shoppable ads, product integrations, genre takeovers, and other tech-enabled enhancements.
Both the ad-supported and ad-free versions of AMC+ will provide access to AMC’s premium original series, as well as streaming services Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC Films Unlimited, and the AMC, BBC America, IFC, and Sundance TV linear networks. This comprehensive offering aims to give fans a wide range of content, including popular series like The Walking Dead, A Discovery of Witches, and Fear the Walking Dead, along with new movies and exclusive programming.
AMC Networks has already secured a range of advertisers for the ad-supported version of AMC+. The company is offering a variety of high-impact and tech-enabled ad formats and options, including interactive units, shoppable ads, trivia during ad breaks, and more.
