AMC Networks’ May Highlights: From “Interview with the Vampire” to “Scrublands” and “Harry Wild”

AMC Networks has unveiled its May lineup, featuring new seasons of popular shows, original films, and a range of specials across its suite of targeted streaming services. The highlights include the highly anticipated second season of “Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire” on AMC, the new crime thriller “Scrublands” on Sundance Now, and the return of “Harry Wild” on Acorn TV.

Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire (Season 2) – AMC and AMC+

The second season of the critically acclaimed series “Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire” premieres on May 12. The vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) recounts his life story to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) in the year 2022. The narrative picks up from the bloody events in New Orleans in 1940, where Louis and the teen vampire Claudia (Delainey Hayles) conspired to kill the Vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid). Louis and Claudia’s escape to Europe leads them on a quest to discover Old World Vampires and the Theatre Des Vampires in Paris, where Louis meets the Vampire Armand (Assad Zaman). Their love affair has devastating consequences in the past and the future, and Molloy uncovers buried truths.

The series also stars Ben Daniels as the leader of Theatre Des Vampires, with recurring roles by David Costabile as Leonard, a seasoned TV personality, Roxane Duran as Madeleine, and Bally Gill as “Real Rashid.”

Scrublands (New Series) – Sundance Now and AMC+

“Scrublands,” an Australian crime thriller, premieres on May 2. Set in an isolated small town, a charismatic priest (Jay Ryan) commits a shocking act of violence. One year later, investigative journalist Martin Scarsden (Luke Arnold) arrives to write a feature story on the anniversary of the tragedy. However, as he digs deeper, the accepted narrative falls apart, and he finds himself in a race to uncover the truth.

Harry Wild (Season 3) – Acorn TV and BBC America

The third season of “Harry Wild” premieres on May 13. Harry (Jane Seymour) and Fergus (Rohan Nedd) juggle their busy agency work with their personal lives. They take on several intriguing cases, including the mysterious death of a boy band member, the murder of a daytime soap opera director, and the shooting of a mystery writer in a locked panic room. Harry also faces a personal challenge as Fergus contests his sister’s custody claim.

American Star (Film) – AMC+ Exclusive

Premiering on May 3, “American Star” follows seasoned assassin Wilson (Ian McShane), who decides to stay on the island of Fuerteventura instead of returning to London after his target is delayed. When his target finally returns, Wilson is waiting for him, but everything has changed.

The Taste of Things (Film) – AMC+ and Acorn TV

On May 10, “The Taste of Things” offers a unique take on gastronomy and love. Set in France in 1889, the film follows renowned chef Dodin Bouffant and his personal cook and lover, Eugénie. When Eugénie refuses to marry him, Dodin decides to cook for her. The film stars Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel and won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival.

Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever (Film) – Shudder and AMC+

Premiering on May 17, “Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever” stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Martin, whose life is turned upside down when his daughter, Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal), takes a job in the same forensic department where her parents were almost killed by a psychopathic inspector. Emma’s investigation into the past reawakens her father’s bloodthirst, leading to a violent revenge.

Stopmotion (Film) – Shudder and AMC+

On May 31, “Stopmotion” tells the story of Ella Blake, a stop-motion animator struggling to control her demons after the loss of her overbearing mother. As she embarks on creating a macabre new puppet film, her mind starts to fracture, and the characters in her animation take on a life of their own, threatening her sanity. The film stars Aisling Franciosi, Tom York, and Jaz Hutchins and won Best Director at Fantastic Fest.

Parish – AMC and AMC+

The action-packed drama “Parish,” starring Giancarlo Esposito, continues its season with new episodes every Sunday until the season finale on May 5. Esposito plays Gracian “Gray” Parish, a family man and owner of a luxury car service in New Orleans. After the murder of his son and the collapse of his business, Parish’s encounter with an old friend resurfaces old habits, leading him on a collision course with a violent criminal syndicate.

Acorn TV, ALLBLK, HIDIVE, and Sundance Now Offerings

Acorn TV presents the 10th anniversary season of “The Brokenwood Mysteries,” with new episodes every Monday until June 3. “The Truth,” an Israeli courtroom drama, premieres on May 27. ALLBLK offers stand-up comedy and docuseries, while HIDIVE continues the English dub of the dark fantasy series “Ragna Crimson” and the fantasy comedy series “The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess.” Sundance Now presents the Australian crime drama “Mystery Road” (Seasons 1-2) on May 23 and continues “True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here” (Season 2).
