AMC Networks’ New Shows Acquired by UKTV and BBC Studios for Drama, Alibi, and UKTV Play

UKTV and BBC Studios have jointly acquired the rights to several shows from AMC Networks for the UK and Benelux regions.
The shows include Mrs. Sidhu Investigates, Darby and Joan, Signora Volpe, and Whitstable Pearl for Drama and UKTV Play. Dark Winds will air on Alibi, and The South Westerlies will be available on UKTV Play. BBC First in Benelux has also acquired The Madame Blanc Mysteries, London Kills, and Queens of Mysteries. This partnership marks the first deal between UKTV and AMC Networks, facilitated by Jimmy Rumble, global acquisitions manager at BBC Studios and UKTV.
Viewers can expect the premieres of Mrs Sidhu Investigates and Signora Volpe on Drama and UKTV Play this Autumn. Whitstable Pearl and Darby and Joan will follow with their airings on the channel in early 2024. The South Westerlies will have its exclusive premiere on UKTV Play in October, while Dark Winds can be watched on Alibi starting from October as well.
The shows are
Mrs Sidhu Investigates, based on the BBC Radio 4 series, follows the adventures of recently widowed caterer Mrs Sidhu (Meera Syal) as she solves mysteries among the affluent residents of Berkshire. She teams up with DCI Burton (Craig Parkinson) while juggling her new catering business and her son Tez (Gurjeet Singh).
Signora Volpe features Emilia Fox as Sylvia Fox, a former British spy-turned-detective who relocates to Italy and finds herself entangled in various cases while trying to reconnect with her sister. She forms a connection with a local cop (Giovanni Cirfiera), while her ex-husband (Jamie Bamber) attempts to bring her back.
Whitstable Pearl follows single mother Pearl (Kerry Godliman) as she realizes her dream of starting a private detective agency in the coastal town of Whitstable. Pearl finds herself at odds with DCI Mike McGuire (Howard Charles) when investigating a suspicious death.
Darby and Joan is an Australian murder mystery and crime drama series where English nurse Joan (Greta Scacchi) embarks on a quest to uncover the truth about her husband’s death. Along the way, she teams up with ex-detective Jack Darby (Bryan Brown) in an unlikely partnership.
The South Westerlies is an Irish dramedy that follows environmental consultant Kate Ryan (Orla Brady) as she goes undercover in a small town to address objections to a wind farm. However, her task becomes more complicated when she reunites with an old flame and encounters various obstacles.
Dark Winds is an American psychological noir thriller set in the 1970s Southwest. It focuses on the FBI investigation of a bank robbery and the Navajo Tribal inquiry into local murders. Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and his deputy Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) navigate personal and professional challenges as they confront evil forces. The series also features Jessica Matten, Noah Emmerich, Deanna Allison, and Rainn Wilson.
All six shows are scheduled to air on Drama, Alibi, and UKTV Play later this year and in early 2024.
