American Dad!: I’ve Got a Friend in Me

American Dad! Key Art

“American Dad!” has never exactly been a bastion of normalcy. But even by its own warped standards, the upcoming episode, “I’ve Got a Friend in Me,” airing Monday, November 11, 2024, at 10 PM ET/PT on TBS, looks set to raise the bar on bizarre.

The premise? Stan and Roger, the CIA agent and the flamboyant alien, become physically stuck together. The how, why, and resulting chaos are yet to be fully revealed. It’s the kind of “out there” scenario that’s kept “American Dad!” kicking for an impressive 20 seasons now.

Meanwhile, in a completely separate strand of weirdness, Klaus the goldfish confronts an imposter. Now, given that Klaus is, you know, a goldfish, the potential for imposter shenanigans is, shall we say, limited. Is it a rival goldfish vying for tank supremacy? A Klaus clone created in a rogue science experiment? Or perhaps something far more “American Dad!”-ian, like a sentient piece of sushi claiming to be the Smith family’s finned frenemy?

So, while we anticipate the typical Smith family dysfunction, “I’ve Got a Friend in Me” sets itself up as a particularly wacky chapter in the show’s long history. Stan and Roger literally attached at the hip? A Klaus double? Is this just another Monday in Langley Falls? We’ll find out on November 11th.
