American Dad! “Under (and Over, and Beside) the Boardwalk” (TBS, Monday, November 25, 2024)

American Dad! Key Art

The Langley Falls boardwalk, that monument to questionable hot dogs and fleeting summer romances, is back in business. And in the world of American Dad!, that can only mean one thing: utter, Smith-family-fueled pandemonium. In the upcoming episode, “Under (and Over, and Beside) the Boardwalk,” airing Monday, November 25 on TBS, we’re likely to find Stan, Francine, Hayley, Steve, Klaus, and Roger indulging in all the greasy, sun-drenched, slightly-off-kilter delights the boardwalk has to offer.

A reopened boardwalk in Langley Falls is less a celebration of community spirit and more an invitation for the Smiths to unleash their uniquely chaotic brand of family fun. Will Stan attempt to win an oversized stuffed animal, only to accidentally incite a riot amongst disgruntled carnies? Will Roger create a boardwalk-themed alter ego, charming tourists while secretly plotting their demise? Will Steve find true love, only to discover she’s a genetically modified clam designed to lure unsuspecting teenagers? The possibilities are as endless as the boardwalk itself.

One thing’s for sure, the 20th season of American Dad! isn’t slowing down. While other animated sitcoms might rest on their laurels, American Dad! continues to deliver its particular brand of absurdist humor. And with the boardwalk as their playground, the Smiths are practically guaranteed to provide a half-hour of escapist, slightly deranged entertainment. Tune in to witness the carnage — or perhaps, just maybe, a heartwarming moment of family bonding amidst the saltwater taffy and rickety roller coasters. Just don’t expect it to last.
