American Idol is back with a new episode airing on ABC on Sunday April 28, showcasing the top 10 contestants performing songs from their birth years. The episode will also feature performances by two former Idol winners: Scotty McCreery, who won the tenth season in 2011, and Just Sam, the eighteenth season winner in 2020.

The top 10 contestants were revealed on Monday, April 20, after a series of performances and eliminations. The remaining singers include Jack Blocker, McKenna Faith Breinholt, Abi Carter, Julia Gagnon, Triston Harper, Kaibrienne, Sam “Kayko” Kelly-Cohen, Mia Matthews, Will Moseley, and Emmy Russell. Each contestant will perform a song from their birth year, vying for a spot in the top 8 as America votes live.

Scotty McCreery, who rose to fame after winning the tenth season of American Idol in 2011, will perform during the episode. The country music star has released five albums, including his debut, “Clear as Day,” which topped the Billboard charts. He has also received numerous accolades, including several American Country Awards and induction into the Grand Ole Opry in April 2024.

Joining McCreery is Just Sam, the eighteenth season winner of American Idol. Just Sam, whose real name is Samantha Diaz, has faced challenges since winning the competition in 2020. They recently returned to busking in the New York City subways, three years after their victory. Despite these setbacks, Just Sam remains positive and continues to pursue their music career.
