History’s “American Pickers: Best Of” returns this Wednesday, with a curated collection of dusty treasures and the quirky characters who safeguard them. “Knee Deep Pickin’” takes viewers on a cross-country road trip with Mike and Frank as they hunt for forgotten relics.
The picking pilgrimage begins in upstate New York, where Mike and Frank encounter a retired firefighter also named Frank, whose collection of rare fire memorabilia catches their eye. From there, the duo heads to Ohio, where Mike stumbles upon a bicycle collector’s paradise – the largest bike collection he claims to have ever laid eyes on. Then it’s back to New York to visit Fran, an accountant whose passion for collecting seems to have crossed the line into full-blown obsession. Ohio also sees Mike and Frank drop in on Mary who runs a farm where the outbuildings including a smokehouse remain stuck in time.
“American Pickers,” in its “Best Of” format, provides a condensed but potent dose of Americana, exploring the stories behind the objects and the people who cherish them. It’s a celebration of history, ingenuity, and the thrill of uncovering hidden gems.
“American Pickers: Best Of: Knee Deep Pickin’” airs Wednesday, May 14th at 9:00 PM ET on History.
