American Pickers “Junkyard Jamboree” (History, Wednesday, January 1, 2025)

American Pickers Key Art

History’s American Pickers returns with Robbie and Jersey venturing into the cluttered heart of Alabama, hoping to strike gold amidst a sprawling collection of classic cars. The owner, a man named Edd, seems to embody the spirit of a reluctant dragon guarding his hoard. Whether he’s truly unwilling to part with any of his rusty treasures or just playing hardball remains to be seen. One thing’s for sure, the Pickers will need their sharpest negotiating skills.

Meanwhile, Mike’s off on a different kind of picking expedition, one that trades greasy gears for rhinestone suits and honky-tonk history. He’s been granted access to the personal effects of none other than Hank Williams Jr., a country music legend. While the specifics of what treasures Mike might uncover remain under wraps, the prospect of unearthing relics from Bocephus’s past is enough to make any music fan’s ears perk up.

This episode appears to be a smart move by American Pickers, injecting a dose of country music nostalgia into its usual formula. The juxtaposition of a tough-to-crack seller in a junkyard with the more curated collection of a music icon provides a nice contrast. It’ll be interesting to see how much actual picking gets done amidst the storytelling, but who’s complaining about a bit of Hank Williams Jr. lore thrown into the mix?

The show has always been about more than just rusty gold, it’s about the stories behind the stuff, and this episode looks like it’ll have stories aplenty. Tune in to History on Wednesday, January 1, 2024, at 9:00 PM to see if Robbie and Jersey can charm Edd out of some classic cars and what gems Mike unearths from Hank Williams Jr.’s past.
