Monday’s “Ancient Aliens: Origins” asks the age-old question: Did E.T. phone home…using the Nazca Lines? “Alien Beacons” examines ancient sites visible from the sky, pondering whether these landmarks might be more than meets the eye (or telescope, as it were). Serpent Mound and the Nazca Lines take center stage, their intricate designs suggesting a level of astronomical and geometric knowledge that seems, well, out of this world.
The show posits that these sites could be navigational tools for extraterrestrial visitors, a theory that’s sure to delight fans of the ancient astronaut hypothesis while simultaneously prompting eye-rolls from, you know, scientists. Expect to see Giorgio Tsoukalos and David Childress offering their expert opinions, which will likely involve plenty of speculation and dramatic pronouncements about lost civilizations and extraterrestrial intervention.
While the scientific community may not be on board, the entertainment value is undeniable. If nothing else, it’s a fun thought experiment. After all, who hasn’t looked up at the stars and wondered if we’re truly alone?
Catch “Alien Beacons” on History, Monday at 9 PM Eastern.
