FOX’s workplace comedy “Animal Control” is back this Thursday with “Retrievers and Fruit Bats,” an episode that finds the team dealing with fundraising woes and romantic hurdles. When Emily’s outdoor kennel project needs a financial boost, Frank and Victoria scramble to find a new benefactor. Enter Roman Park (Ken Jeong), an “unlikely acquaintance” who may or may not be the answer to their prayers. Jeong’s return to the series should bring some of his trademark chaotic energy to the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Shred and Isabelle’s relationship takes center stage as they pretend to be married at an open house. It’s a classic sitcom setup, but “Animal Control” usually manages to find some fresh laughs amidst the familiar tropes. Will their faux marriage bring them closer or drive them apart?
