Let’s face it, stripping naked on national television isn’t everyone’s idea of a good time. But for Anthony Anderson, it’s a cause worth baring it all for. The actor, appearing on Live with Kelly and Mark on Wednesday, discussed his involvement in Fox’s upcoming special, The Real Full Monty, which aims to raise awareness for men’s cancers. Premiering Sunday, December 9, and streaming the next day on Hulu, the show features Anderson and five other male celebrities taking it all off for charity.
While the premise has its inherently comedic elements (let’s be real, a bunch of guys awkwardly disrobing is bound to elicit a few chuckles), Anderson stressed the serious nature of the show’s mission. The Real Full Monty tackles the often-ignored topic of men’s health, focusing on cancers that affect men, including testicular, colon, rectal, and pancreatic cancers.
And who better to choreograph this delicate dance of disrobing than Mandy Moore? Anderson shared some behind-the-scenes insights, revealing a mixed bag of dancing talent. While some participants were naturally gifted movers, others, namely Taye Diggs and Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones, apparently required a bit more coaching. Anderson jokingly recounted the unique challenges presented by Jones’s, shall we say, stature, and the ensuing wardrobe complications – a detail that’s sure to pique viewers’ interest.
The Real Full Monty looks to be a mix of entertainment and education, using humor as a gateway to address crucial health issues. Anderson’s appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark served as a candid and, dare we say, revealing preview of what audiences can anticipate.
The Real Full Monty premieres Sunday, December 9, 2024 on Fox.
Live with Kelly and Mark airs at 9:00 AM weekdays on ABC.
