Antiques Road Trip returns with a first time pairing: auctioneer, dealer, and recent recruit Hettie Jago, and numismatist and dealer Tim Medhurst. Hettie, a Somerset native now residing in Nottingham, and Tim, a Dorset local, team up for a week-long shopping spree in a replica Jaguar. Their journey begins in Lewes, sunny Sussex, where they scour for hidden treasures.
Tim discovers an unusual teapot, potentially designed by the renowned arts and crafts artist William Hutton. Meanwhile, Hettie’s curiosity is piqued by an art deco figurine of a mouse that bears a striking resemblance to a rat. The pair then head to nearby Brighton, famous for its Royal Pavilion built by George IV during his reign as prince regent.
With £200 each to start, the competition is on to see who will reign supreme in the most auctions after five trips to the sale room. Will Hettie’s fresh perspective give her an edge, or will Tim’s experience prove invaluable?
Antiques Road Trip: Hettie Jago & Tim Medhurst Day One, airing on BBC One on Monday, 2 September 2024, at 3:45 PM.
