BBC One’s Antiques Road Trip returns with another installment of competitive antiquing, this time featuring a rematch between experts James Braxton and Izzie Balmer. The two are off to explore the hidden treasures of Cheshire and Staffordshire, each hoping to outbid and outsmart the other in their quest for profit.
Day two of their excursion finds Izzie in the charming town of Congleton. Never one to shy away from a theme, she’s set her sights on all things shellfish. Perhaps a porcelain prawn or a vintage scallop shell will catch her eye. Meanwhile, James heads to Stafford, where his more refined tastes lead him on a hunt for booze-related antiques. But the real test of skill comes not in the antique shops but on the football pitch! The two take a break from their buying spree for a penalty shoot-out in Stoke-on-Trent. While this detour may seem out of place, it reflects the competitive spirit at the heart of this series. Who has the better aim, and will their athletic prowess translate to auction success?
