Let the bidding wars commence! James Braxton and Izzie Balmer return for more antique-hunting antics in “Antiques Road Trip,” and this time, their journey takes them through the picturesque landscapes of Somerset and Dorset in a rather spiffy 1949 Morris Minor convertible. But it’s not all scenic drives and cream teas. Competition is fierce, as always, and each expert is determined to outbid the other, sniffing out hidden treasures and haggling for bargains with the tenacity of a terrier at a rat convention.
James, never one to shy away from a bit of theatrical flair, introduces his secret weapon for this leg of the trip: deep breathing exercises. He claims they enhance his decision-making during the crucial moments of antique purchases. Viewers can decide if this is genius or just plain gasbaggery as he splashes out on a rather curious assortment of items, including a portrait, a ceramic jug, and a diamond ring. Apparently, his charm extends beyond dealers, as he also manages to befriend a herd of cows and a particularly enthusiastic canine companion. One can only hope these new acquaintances didn’t influence his buying choices too much.
Meanwhile, Izzie, proving that she, too, possesses the fine art of acquisitiveness, focuses on her area of expertise, collecting an array of earrings, a brooch, and some rather elegant Regency gaming counters. Her historical diversions take a slightly morbid turn with a visit to Shepton Mallet, home to the oldest prison in the world. Fear not, fans; she’s released just in time for the all-important auction.
Who will emerge victorious in this latest round of antique one-upmanship? Will James’s breathing techniques lead him to auction glory? Or will Izzie’s keen eye for historical trinkets prove to be the winning formula? Tune in to find out.
