In the week’s last episode of Antiques Road Trip, 20th-century design expert Mark Hill and silver specialist Margie Cooper embark on their final leg in a best-of-five contest. Having ventured across borders into Scotland, their quest for antiques and artefacts commences just outside Edinburgh, in Danderhall, a village with a rich mining history.
Each armed with £200, Mark and Margie delve into their first shop in Danderhall, where Margie’s interest is piqued by a Victorian object, while Mark sets his sights on a mid-20th-century skiing item to keep him in the game. As they continue their journey, taking in the sights of Edinburgh and later, Inverkeithing, Margie’s fascination grows with the discovery of a 1960s toy, while Mark hopes to secure victory with a rare glass vase.
Along the way, they explore St John’s House in Edinburgh, uncovering the intriguing origins of the order of St John, which traces its roots back to the knights of the first crusades in the 11th century. With a range of unique items up for grabs, including advertising boxes and doorbells, the competition intensifies as Mark and Margie approach the final auction. Who will emerge as the ultimate winner?
