BBC One’s “Antiques Road Trip” continues its treasure-hunting adventures this Thursday with “The Buddha and the Lotus,” an episode that sees auctioneer Tahmina Ghaffar and dealer David Harper going head-to-head once again in a friendly competition.
This week, Tahmina sets her sights on Eastern treasures, indulging her passion for artifacts from far-flung lands. Among her finds are a pair of Chinese silk lotus shoes, a temple bronze, and a tool used by an Islamic scribe. David, ever the eclectic collector, explores a wide range of antiques, including a tea picker’s basket, a curious tobacco jar, and some elegant Georgian furniture.
As their road trip takes them to Hereford Cathedral, the pair gets a chance to delve into history, exploring the cathedral’s chained library and the fascinating stories behind its mappa mundi, one of the oldest maps of the world. While the historical detour adds a touch of educational flair to the proceedings, the real focus is on the auction. Who will come out on top this week?
“Antiques Road Trip: The Buddha and the Lotus” airs Thursday, March 6th at 4:30 PM on BBC One.
