Will porcelain prevail, or can a rookie rock the boat? That’s the question looming over the latest “Antiques Road Trip” as Danny Sebastian continues his attempt to dethrone reigning queen of collectibles, Irita Marriott. This Wednesday, their brightly colored 1965 electric Beetle putts its way through the picturesque West Country, a region ripe with antique oddities and hidden treasures.
While their chosen mode of transport may be a nod to a gentler past, the competition between these two is anything but subdued. Expect the usual witty banter and good-natured ribbing as they scour antique shops, car boot sales, and dusty barns for items that might turn a profit at auction.
Their travels take them to Nailsea, where they uncover a bit of local history, learning about Somerset heroine Hannah More and her significant contributions to education. Will this historical detour inspire their antique selections? Or will the pressure of the ticking clock and ever-dwindling budget lead to impulsive purchases?
Irita, ever the shrewd negotiator, sets her sights on a collection of antique glasses, hoping their delicate beauty translates into cold, hard cash. Meanwhile, Danny, perhaps feeling bold (or reckless), gambles on a large railway platform bench. One can only imagine how he plans to fit that behemoth in the already cramped Beetle.
