Antiques Roadshow: Botanic Gardens, Belfast 3 (BBC One, Sunday, 25 May, 2025)

Antiques Roadshow Fiona Bruce

Few television programs offer the same consistent charm as the BBC’s “Antiques Roadshow.” It’s a comforting blend of history, quirky finds, and the occasional gasp-inducing valuation. This Sunday, the Roadshow sets up shop in Belfast’s Botanic Gardens for the third time, with another delightful foray into the world of hidden treasures.

Fiona Bruce, ever the engaging host, guides us through the Gardens’ own history, a tranquil oasis amidst the bustle of Belfast. But it’s the objects brought in by the public that truly steal the show. This episode features a remarkable range, from early poetry by the acclaimed Seamus Heaney – a true literary gem – to a vintage motorcycle frame unearthed from beneath a pile of, well, let’s just say it was found in a rather aromatic location.

As always, the Roadshow’s specialists are on hand to offer their expertise. Ronnie Archer Morgan admires the craftsmanship of a Black Forest sculpture, while Marc Allum gets demonstrably excited about a speck of dust with an extraterrestrial origin story. Gordon Foster examines a medal awarded to an Edwardian plumber, a small piece of social history. And in a moment sure to bring a smile to viewers’ faces, Steven Moore shows off his surprising skills with an ocarina.
