Apple TV+ has announced the renewal of its acclaimed sci-fi thriller Dark Matter for a second season, building upon the success and positive reception of its first season. The series, based on the novel by New York Times bestselling author Blake Crouch, stars Joel Edgerton and Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly, with the complete first season now available for streaming.
Showrunner and author Blake Crouch was naturally pleased at the news thanking the audience, partners, and creative team, and teasing that there is “so much more story to tell” in the multiverse landscape.
Dark Matter follows the story of Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), a physicist, professor, and family man whose life takes an unexpected turn one night in Chicago. Abducted into an alternate reality, Jason finds himself in a labyrinth of parallel lives, embarking on a harrowing journey to return to his true family. In this multiverse landscape, he encounters mind-bending challenges and must outwit his most unbeatable foe – himself.
Dark Matter is produced by Sony Pictures Television for Apple TV+, with Crouch and Matt Tolmach serving as executive producers. The first season, consisting of ten episodes, is now available for streaming on Apple TV+.
