Apple TV+’s The Buccaneers is returning for a second season, with a premiere date set for Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The drama, based on Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel, will continue the story of the American girls in 1870s London.
Here’s the Lowdown: Season two brings back the main cast: Kristine Frøseth (Nan St. George), Alisha Boe (Conchita Closson), Aubri Ibrag (Lizzy Elmsworth), Josie Totah (Mabel Elmsworth), and Imogen Waterhouse (Jinny St. George). Christina Hendricks returns as Mrs. St. George, and Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester joins the cast as a new character, Nell. The eight-episode season will air weekly on Wednesdays, concluding on August 6, 2025.
What This Means Now: The first season established the “culture clash” between the American girls and British high society. Now, the Buccaneers are no longer outsiders; they’re established figures in English society. Nan is a Duchess, Conchita is Lady Brightlingsea, and Jinny is making headlines. Season Two gives us births, deaths and themes concerning all women of all ages.
The Bigger Picture: The show has been praised for its modern take on the period drama, its focus on female friendship, and its diverse casting. Season two is written by series creator Katherine Jakeways and directed by a team including BAFTA winner William McGregor. It is once again produced by The Forge Entertainment.
