“The Åre Murders,” Netflix Ventures into Snowy Swedish Mystery

Netflix is set to chill viewers with “The Åre Murders,” a new Nordic Noir series based on the popular novels by Viveca Sten. Arriving Thursday, February 6, 2025, the series adapts the first two books in Sten’s Åre series, “Hidden in Snow” and “Hidden in Shadows,” promising a wintry landscape as unforgiving as its crimes.

The story follows Hanna Ahlander, a police officer on suspension after a personal and professional meltdown. Retreating to the scenic Swedish town of Åre, she finds herself unexpectedly drawn into the investigation of a young woman’s disappearance during the Lucia celebrations. Forced to collaborate with local officer Daniel Lindskog, their partnership is fraught with suspicion, mirroring the secrets hidden beneath Åre’s pristine façade.

Carla Sehn takes on the lead role of Hanna, navigating the treacherous terrain of both the investigation and her own personal struggles. Kardo Razzazi plays Lindskog, the reluctant local partner whose motives remain unclear. Charlie Gustafsson rounds out the main cast, adding another dimension to the small-town dynamics.
