Ashley Cain heads into some of the most dangerous communities in the world in his new documentary series, “Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone.” The series premieres this Tuesday on BBC Three, taking viewers into the heart of Brazil’s favelas.
Cain’s journey focuses on understanding why so many young men are drawn into the perilous world of drug dealing and gang crime. He speaks with young men at various levels within the cartels and gangs – lookouts, foot soldiers, dealers – gaining firsthand accounts of the daily realities and ever-present dangers they face.
Cain even meets with a heavily armed militia boss to understand how these groups maintain their grip on the favelas through fear and brutal intimidation.
“Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone” premieres Tuesday, April 1st at 9:00 PM on BBC Three.
