The French crime drama Astrid: Murder in Paris returns with the fourth episode of it’s third season and its formidable duo of Detective Raphaëlle Coste and autistic archivist Astrid Nielsen. In this episode, the team investigates the suspicious death of a convicted murderer found dead in his psychiatric hospital room. With the death deemed suspicious, the investigation uncovers potential criminal involvement within the hospital.
The series, created by Alexandre De Seguins and Laurent Burtin, centres on the unique partnership between the impulsive, mercurial Detective Coste and the autistic, detail-oriented archivist Astrid. Lola Dewaere portrays Raphaëlle Coste, a police commander with a reputation for being impulsive and rule-breaking. Her counterpart, Astrid Nielsen, is played by Sara Mortensen, who herself has a form of autism. Mortensen’s performance as Astrid has received widespread acclaim for its authenticity and empathy.
Astrid, who works in the library of the judicial police, has an incredible memory and a talent for analysing complex investigations. Her autism presents challenges, but it is also her superpower, providing her with a unique perspective that assists in solving crimes.
In this episode, titled “The Open Room,” the team faces a perplexing case that tests their skills and uncovers a potential threat within the hospital walls. With their combined expertise and unconventional approaches, Raphaëlle and Astrid are determined to bring justice and uncover the truth behind the suspicious death.
