The Australian comedy Austin returns to ABC TV on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 7:30 PM with a second season that pushes its blunt but beloved lead character into unfamiliar territory—celebrity.
Michael Theo reprises his breakout role as Austin, whose sharp honesty and social quirks struck a chord with viewers in season one. This time, Austin is dealing with the chaos that comes with accidental fame. His book, “An Autistic Guide to Britain,” has become an unexpected hit overseas, pulling him into a spotlight he’s neither chasing nor dodging gracefully.
Season two picks up with Austin’s family still circling around his unpredictable orbit. Ben Miller returns as Austin’s father Julian, now licking his wounds after selling his Big Bear TV series and watching from the sidelines. Sally Phillips is back as Ingrid, who’s left to deal with the fractured Australian television industry, and with Julian’s restlessness.
Australian actors Gia Carides and Roy Billing also return, joined by new cast members Rodger Corser, Katrina Milosevic, Claire Lovering and Natalie Abbott. The additions help broaden the show’s focus without losing the sting of its central voice.
While Austin’s fame is the season’s narrative pivot, the heart of the show remains grounded in how people manage connection—romantic and otherwise—when ego, ambition, and neurodivergence are all in play.
All eight episodes will land at once on ABC iview. Austin is produced by Northern Pictures, Lincoln Pictures and ITV Studios, with support from the ABC, Screen Australia, the ACT Government, Screen Canberra, and post-production assistance from Screen NSW.
