Super Channel has announced its acquisition of the Australian drama series Prosper from Lionsgate Television. The gripping family drama will premiere exclusively on Super Channel Fuse in Canada on Sunday, March 24 at 9 p.m. ET. Each episode will be available to stream On Demand the following day.
Prosper, produced by Lingo Pictures and commissioned by Lionsgate and Australia’s Stan, is set in the inner sanctum of U Star, one of the fastest-growing evangelical megachurches in Sydney, Australia. Run by the wealthy and powerful Quinn family, U Star is on the verge of a lucrative expansion into America. However, behind closed doors, the Quinns are harboring dark secrets while espousing a message of faith and acceptance to their many followers. Prosper explores a damaged family bound together while simultaneously tearing themselves apart.
“Prosper will fill the void of past prime-time family dramas like Dallas and Succession,” said Kimberley Ball, Chief Content Officer at Super Channel. “[This] saga combines great dialogue and sibling rivalries to explore the consequences that occur when religion and capitalism collide.”
Susan Hummel, Lionsgate’s EVP & Managing Director for Canada and Head of Domestic Channels, expressed her excitement about bringing Prosper to Canadian audiences: “This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to delivering top-tier entertainment that will resonate with viewers.”
The cast of Prosper includes Richard Roxburgh as Cal Quinn, the charismatic founder and pastor of U Star. Rebecca Gibney portrays Abi Quinn, his indomitable wife.
Ewen Leslie plays Dion, Cal’s loyal son from his first marriage who follows in his father’s footsteps. Hayley McCarthy takes on the role of Issy, Cal’s adored daughter who is both a talented singer-songwriter for U Star and a beloved member of the family. Jacob Collins-Levy portrays Jed, the rebellious youngest son who wants no part in his family’s unchecked greed.
In addition to these main characters are Ming-Zhu Hii, Jordi Webber, Jacek Koman, Andrea Solonge, Brigid Zengeni, and Alex Fitzalan.
The series has garnered critical acclaim since its premiere on Stan in Australia during the summer. Super Channel subscribers can look forward to experiencing the razor-sharp storytelling of Prosper as it makes its Canadian debut. Viewers will be enthralled by the complex dynamics within the Quinn family and how their actions affect both themselves and their followers.
Each episode of Prosper will be available to stream On Demand on Super Channel Fuse starting from the day after its original broadcast. The premiere date for Prosper’s ninth series is Sunday, March 24 at 9 p.m. ET on Super Channel Fuse.
