AXS TV Plugs In for “National Guitar Day” with Guitar-Centric Programming

AXS TV is set to observe “National Guitar Day” with a full day of programming dedicated to some of rock’s most celebrated guitarists and their instruments. On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the cable channel will air concerts, interviews, and deep dives into the collections of artists, delivering content for guitar enthusiasts and classic rock devotees.

The celebration starts bright and early at 8 AM ET with a conversation between Dan Rather and bluesman Buddy Guy on “The Big Interview.” Later in the day, at 11 AM ET, Rather talks with Lindsey Buckingham.

One highlight of the day is the network television premiere of Gibson TV’s “The Collection,” a show that brings viewers inside the private guitar stashes of famous musicians. At 10:30 AM ET, Mike Campbell, guitarist for Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers, will show off his Gibson Firebird guitars. Keith Nelson, founding member of Buckcherry, presents his collection of guitars and amps at 3:30 PM ET.

Later, Peter Frampton talks about his “Phenix” Les Paul at 6 PM ET, while Widespread Panic frontman Charlie Starr highlights his vintage instruments at 11 PM ET. To cap things off, at 12 AM ET, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash will talk about his early Gibson sunburst models.

Additionally, AXS TV will broadcast several concert films, including tributes to B.B. King (9 AM ET) and ZZ Top (9 PM ET). Queen’s famed show at Wembley Stadium will air at 1:30 PM ET.

The day’s schedule also includes episodes of “Rock Legends” highlighting guitarists such as Eric Clapton (1:30 AM ET), Prince (4 PM ET), Carlos Santana (11:30 PM ET), and bands such as The Yardbirds (8:30 PM ET), The Who (1 AM ET), Guns N’ Roses (12:30 AM ET), The Allman Brothers (2:30 AM ET) and Pink Floyd (3:30 AM ET).

This “National Guitar Day Celebration” provides a concentrated dose of guitar history and appreciation, certain to satisfy those viewers who like to geek out over amps, guitars, and riffs.
