In this episode of Bangers & Cash, Derek is in for a treat as he visits Ron Jones’ Shropshire farm. Ron, a car collector, has decided to prune his impressive collection, and Derek has the exciting task of picking up four British automotive classics.
The lineup includes a 1937 Austin Seven van, a Triumph TR2 from the 1950s, and two 1960s gems: an Austin Healey and a wooden-trimmed 1965 Austin Mini. These vehicles are not just cars but fine examples of their type.
Meanwhile, back in Thornton le Dale, the team welcomes owner Douglas McLay, who has brought in two very different cars: an MGA and a Terrapin. These vehicles have seen their fair share of race tracks across the country, which leaves Derek less than impressed, as he believes cars should be well-treated and not pushed to their limits.
However, he becomes intrigued by a pair of AA motor-bike and sidecar units, stunning relics from the 1960s that evoke a sense of nostalgia for the days when AA men would salute members as they drove by.
The Bangers & Cash team takes a break from their usual routine to attend the Andrew Hardy Classics Car Show in the North East. Here, they meet a 13-year-old car enthusiast who has restored a VW Golf and is proud to show off his handiwork under the bonnet.
