Jon Taffer, the no-nonsense bar consultant and host of “Bar Rescue,” heads to Milwaukee, Wisconsin this Monday to tackle a failing establishment with a misplaced identity crisis. In the aptly titled episode “I’m a F’n Bar Guy! I’m a F’n Bar Girl!,” Taffer encounters a family-run bar desperately trying to make a New Orleans theme work in the heart of the Midwest. Spoiler alert: it’s not going well.
The frozen daiquiris aren’t flowing, the atmosphere is about as authentically NOLA as a cheese curd, and the family dynamic is adding fuel to the already raging dumpster fire. Taffer’s task is to assess the damage – and there’s likely to be a lot of it – and then overhaul the bar’s operations, menu, and atmosphere.
