Bargain Hunt returns Monday, July 7, at 12:15 PM on BBC One, opening with an unusual historical aside before plunging into the familiar antique hunt. The episode kicks off with host Christina Trevanion recounting the astonishing story of “The House That Moved” in Exeter. Back in 1961, a three-story Tudor merchant’s house was relocated several hundred yards to clear space for postwar city development, a feat of engineering that sounds like something out of a storybook.
After that historical preamble, it’s back to the main event: two new teams facing off at a nearby antiques center. University friends Oli and Tor enter the fray, guided by expert Kate Bliss. Their competition comes from partners Matt and Hamid, who receive advice from expert Gary Pe. As the teams pick over items, Kate Bliss expresses doubts about the profitability of an arts and crafts wooden chair. Conversely, Gary Pe gets excited over a glass vase shaped like dripping ice, a piece crafted by a celebrated Finnish designer.
The acquired treasures then head to Wiltshire, where Tim Weeks acts as auctioneer, determining which team will celebrate a gain and which will face a loss.
