BBC One’s “Bargain Hunt” gallops into Southwell Racecourse this Friday, bringing its usual blend of antique hunting, auction antics, and a dash of local history. Two teams will scour the racecourse for three bargain items each, hoping their finds will turn a profit at the auction in Derby. Experts Stephanie Connell and Gary Pe are on hand to offer guidance – or perhaps a gentle nudge away from that questionable metal daffodil or wooden hop shovel.
Presenter Natasha Raskin Sharp takes a detour from the racecourse to explore the history of knitting in the nearby village of Ruddington. She’ll visit a museum and even try her hand at operating a restored knitting machine in a former “frame shop” – a place where entire families once toiled to produce stockings. Expect some ear-splitting clatter and hopefully a newfound appreciation for the craft.
Back at the auction, the teams will face the usual pressure of the gavel, wielded this time by auctioneer James Lewis. Will their bargain buys prove to be shrewd investments or will they end up with a pile of unwanted trinkets? The thrill of the auction, combined with Natasha’s knitting history lesson, makes for a classic “Bargain Hunt” episode. Tune in to BBC One on Friday, March 28th at 12:15 PM for the fun.
