Students take on lecturers in a battle of wits and bargaining skills in this episode of Bargain Hunt. Representing the students, the red team comprises friends Amy and Laura, a history and maths duo who believe their diverse academic backgrounds will give them an edge in the antiques fair. Meanwhile, the blue team, made up of Karen and Nick, is confident in their ability to “teach the reds a lesson.”
The red team, guided by Philip Serrell, combs through the antiques on offer, with Laura, a maths undergraduate, expressing disinterest in a calculating machine. Both teams are selective in their choices, with the red team passing on a perfume atomiser. The blue team, mentored by Jonathan Pratt, considers a rusty vintage biscuit tin but decides against a model of a Red Arrows jet, predicting it won’t attract buyers in the saleroom.
As the teams hunt for treasures, presenter Caroline Hawley, a Yorkshire native, engages with fairgoers, curious about a mysterious horsehair-stuffed item. The episode builds anticipation for the auction in Ripon, where the teams’ chosen items will be up for bidding.
