BBC One’s “Bargain Hunt” returns with a dash of sibling rivalry, a smattering of antique treasures, and a side trip into literary history. This Monday, presenter Eric Knowles takes viewers to Beverley, exploring the childhood home of Mary Wollstonecraft, a pivotal figure in the early feminist movement and mother of “Frankenstein” author Mary Shelley.
Meanwhile, at an antiques fair in damp County Durham, two teams of siblings are locked in a friendly battle of wits and bargain-hunting prowess. Twins Simran and Satpal, guided by expert Irita Marriott, take on sisters Julia and Catherine, mentored by Colin Young. The teams scour the stalls, hoping to unearth hidden gems and turn a tidy profit at auction.
The reds, in a flurry of early purchases, find themselves in a last-minute scramble, while the blues make a substantial investment that leaves their expert a tad nervous. As always, the real test comes under the gavel of auctioneer Caroline Hawley in Beverley. Will the siblings’ carefully chosen antiques bring in the big bucks, or will their familial bonds be tested by the cold hard realities of the auction market?
Find out on “Bargain Hunt,” airing Monday, March 10th at 12:15 PM on BBC One.
