The Season 13 Premiere of Bargain Loving Brits introduces us to Shane and his partner, Chrissy, who took a leap of faith just 14 weeks ago by opening their poolside bar. With their life savings invested in this new venture, the couple is determined to make it a success. Shane’s mum, Violet, travels from the UK to visit her son and see how he has transformed his life. Shane organises a scenic boat trip to encourage Violet to visit more often and perhaps even get her to pull a pint or two.
The episode also features retired professional singer Margaret, her husband Peter, and their teenage son, Cameron, who left Coventry a year ago to start a new life on the Costas. Together with two friends, they bought a Spanish bar, and tonight is their grand opening. Margaret decides to come out of retirement, serving drinks and serenading guests with her microphone.
Finally, we meet partners Peter and James, who moved to Spain three years ago and opened a mini-mart store selling British produce. Eager to integrate further into the local community, they attend a language class so that Peter can order dinner in the local tongue.
Narrated by John Thomson, Bargain Loving Brits is an observational series that follows the lives of Brits who have exchanged the cold, grey UK for a sun-kissed and affordable life in Spain. It captures the highs and lows of their daily lives, following a cross-section of lively and endearing budget expats who are working hard to build a new life, home, and community in the sun.
