The quiet town of Apple Valley, Ohio, becomes the setting for a disturbing mystery in the new two part true crime series “The Basement: A Vanishing In Apple Valley.” When Dairy Queen manager Tina Herrmann fails to show up for work, a colleague goes to check on her, only to discover a horrific scene: Tina’s home is splattered with blood, suggesting a violent struggle. But Tina is nowhere to be found.
The disappearance quickly escalates when it becomes clear that Tina’s children, 13-year-old Sarah and 11-year-old Kody, are also missing. As police begin their investigation, a seemingly mundane clue – a Walmart receipt for duct tape, trash bags, and rope – leads them to a suspect: Matthew Hoffman.
