The chilling story of the missing women and children of Apple Valley, Ohio, continues this Tuesday on Channel 5. In part one of “The Basement,” viewers witnessed a town paralyzed by fear as the search intensified for the missing. With suspect Matthew Hoffman finally in custody, the focus shifts in part two from the hunt to getting answers. The question isn’t if he’s responsible, but where are the victims?
The tension ratchets up as the episode reveals the discovery of 13-year-old Sarah Maynard, found alive but bound and taped in a darkened basement. Hoffman’s chilling warning to Sarah – that she would remain trapped until her family paid a ransom – adds another disturbing dimension to the case. Sarah’s ordeal, trapped for 88 hours on a makeshift bed of leaves, becomes a focal point as expert interrogation teams work tirelessly to extract information from the tight-lipped Hoffman. They know that time is of the essence and that without his cooperation, the others still missing are likely dead.
