Stella Heikkinen thought she’d seen it all – criminals hiding out in small-town Tasmania, cults seeking sanctuary by the sea. But in Bay of Fires, the mayhem only escalates when you’re the one in charge. Season 2 kicks off Sunday, June 15th at 8:00 PM AEST on ABC Australia and ABC iview, with Stella, played with a sharp wit by Marta Dusseldorp, now officially top dog in Mystery Bay.
Her new job title doesn’t exactly come with hazard pay, but maybe it should. This season finds Stella caught in a three-way standoff between a volatile drug lord, a group of doomsday preppers, and the unwelcome return of a familiar enemy. Oh, and she’s still a single parent, because apparently dodging bullets and dismantling cults isn’t enough to fill a day.
With the Tasmanian west coast as its backdrop, Bay of Fires continues to lean into the absurdity of its premise, adding a fresh batch of faces to the mix. Benedict Hardie, Alex Dimitriades, and Darren Gilshenan join the ensemble, each bringing their own brand of quirky energy to the Tasmanian town that seems to attract trouble like moths to a porch light.
