What is Afterglow about
The 7×45 series follows Ester Sand (Nina Ellen Odegaard), the person you’d most expect to live forever, as she deals with the diagnosis of cervical cancer on her fortieth birthday. However, after the initial shock wears off, Ester is the one who consoles her loved ones, and she has no plans to leave this world just yet. In Afterglow, we learn about the beautiful and foolish things we do in our final moments.
Afterglow stars Nina Ellen Odegaard (Possession), Torbjorn Harr (Vikings), Sara Khorami (Witch Hunt) and Hermann Sabado (Home for Christmas).
The series was created by Kjetil Indregard and Atle Knudsen. Atle Knudsen is also the director.
Quote from Head of BBC Programme Acquisition Sue Deeks
Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, says: “Funny, sad, honest and touching, Afterglow is that rare thing – an uplifting drama about serious illness.”
Afterglow was acquired by the BBC from Reinvent International Sales. It was produced by Monster Scripted for NRK.
