The BBC has released the trailer for Mr Loverman, a new eight-part series adapted from Bernardine Evaristo’s novel by Nathaniel Price (The Outlaws, Noughts + Crosses). Produced by Fable Pictures, the series offers a deep exploration of the complexities within an older Caribbean family in Hackney. All episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer starting 14 October, with the first two episodes airing on BBC One that same evening.

The story centers on Barrington Jedidiah Walker, a seventy-four-year-old Antiguan man living in Hackney. Known for his stylish retro suits, Barry has been hiding a long-standing secret: a passionate relationship with his best friend Morris. As Barry approaches the final chapter of his life, he faces difficult choices, and his wife Carmel and their family must confront the truth about his double life.

Mr Loverman is directed by Hong Khaou (Alice & Jack), produced by Irma Inniss, and executive produced by Faye Ward, Hannah Farrell, and Jo McClellan for Fable Pictures, along with Lennie James and Hong Khaou.
