The BBC has announced scheduling changes for its head-to-head debate and Panorama interviews as part of its General Election 2024 coverage. Sir Keir Starmer’s Panorama interview will air on Friday, 14 June 2024, at 19:30, as part of a series of interviews with leaders of the seven biggest political parties in Great Britain. Nick Robinson conducted the interviews, with Rishi Sunak’s interview broadcast on 10 June.
On Wednesday, 12 June, Robinson’s interviews with John Swinney (SNP) and Rhun ap Iorwerth (Plaid Cymru) will be broadcast. The interview with Adrian Ramsay of the Green Party will air on 18 June, followed by an interview with Sir Ed Davey (Liberal Democrats) on 28 June. The full transmission schedule is available on the BBC website.
The interview with Nigel Farage (Reform UK), originally scheduled for 11 June, has been postponed due to logistical reasons, and a new date will be announced.
The highly anticipated head-to-head debate between Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer, ‘The Prime Ministerial Debate,’ has been extended and will now air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 20:15-21:30 on Wednesday, 26 June. Laura Kuenssberg and Clive Myrie, hosts of the BBC’s election night coverage, will present live reaction and analysis from the debate venue from 21:30-22:00.
Additionally, there has been a change in the host for the debate, as Sophie Raworth has stepped down due to an ankle fracture. Mishal Husain will now moderate the debate, following her well-received performance in a similar role on Friday. Raworth will continue to present BBC News bulletins and the second day of the BBC’s general election night coverage.
