BBC Northern Ireland Introduces Five New Comedy Shorts in October

BBC Northern Ireland has partnered with Nice One Productions to bring viewers five fresh comedy shorts, aimed at spotlighting emerging talent in writing, acting, and production. These new projects will premiere on October 7, with all five shorts available on BBC iPlayer from 6am. For TV audiences, they will air weekly on BBC One Northern Ireland, starting October 7 at 11:35pm.

The first short, The Frick, written by Claire Rafferty and Michael Elliott, follows west Belfast woman Pepper as she navigates a strained friendship with her newly posh best friend Eve. The next short, The Spar, features Belfast boxers Tommy and Tyrone, who must face an intimidating opponent in a paid sparring gig, with the comedy written and performed by Tommy McCarthy and Tyrone McKenna.

Each short presents different comedic perspectives, all set against the backdrop of Northern Ireland.
