The BBC is doubling down on New Zealand import Homebound 3.0, acquiring rights to the second season of the offbeat relationship comedy for BBC iPlayer.
Created by and starring Sam Wang, the half-hour series follows two single thirtysomethings, Henry and Melissa, who initially fake a relationship—and now, in Season 2, take things a step further by faking a pregnancy to fast-track an inheritance from relatives overseas.
Season one premiered on New Zealand’s Three and Threenow earlier this month, and has already been streaming on iPlayer in the UK. The pickup arrives as part of the BBC’s continued push to diversify its comedy slate with international acquisitions that bring sharp, regional sensibilities to a UK audience.
Produced by Kevin & Co Productions, Homebound 3.0 first got attention after being pitched at the SPAPA conference in 2019, with Season 1 eventually commissioned in 2023. The first season consists of eight 30-minute episodes.
The second season has already aired in New Zealand, though the BBC has yet to confirm a UK premiere date. BBC Studios Distribution is handling global sales on the title.
